The UIPRE has been founded in 1959 by European specialist journalists. It has remained being the only international association of journalists and editors, who regularly report in specialist journals and books about electronics and its manifold developments and applications. Its members transport knowledge and know-how to millions of readers all over the world. At the time being it has about 300 members in Europe, America and Asia. |

The UIPRE members try to support communication in order to promote the exchange of opinions, thoughts and information. It strives to maintain the existing flow of information between the specialist journalists and on the other hand between journalists and producers on the other hand, importing companies, distributors as well as institutions and public authorities. An important aim is to represent common interests and to improve the image of the specialist press in the public.

The readers of the specialist press are experts who find in it assistance in their learning and understanding of new developments, know-how and experiences of all kinds. The frequency in which specialist journals are used underlines the importance of the specialist press for economy, politics and society. The specialist journalist has the necessary knowledge and competence to produce clear statements and to correct wrong statements. Permanent information of economy, public authorities and politicians about the concerns of the specialist press is one of the most important tasks of the UIPRE.

| Ways of Membership |

UIPRE is offering active and promoting membership. Trade journalists and trade editors may become "Active Member" if they are covering electronic topics regularly. All natural persons handling electronic areas for a company or a newsletter, work in a dedicated publishing house and support the specialized electronic press may become a "Promoting Member". Legal persons like companies or institutions have the option of being represented by a natural person. |

| Ethical Rules |

The members of the UIPRE in first place are obliged to meet the needs of their readers. Therefore they avoid any connection between their activities with advertising or other economic relations. Their reports reveal their personal opinions which may, of course, base on the judgement of others. The description of news is limited to the contents relevant for the reader. Information about producer, brand and price have to be reduced to what is necessary for understanding.
The UIPRE members especially look after the copyright. They avoid any reuse of other sources that has not been authorized. |

| How to become an UIPRE member? |
| |
An application form can also be obtained from the
Secretary General. The journalistic activities have to be proved by four contributions published during the last six months. Instead of own contributions you can also name two guarantors who are members of the UIPRE. New members are introduced in the Bulletin as candidates and accepted as member in case there is no objection within one month. After having paid the annual fee their regular membership is published in the Bulletin. The admission of Promoting Members follows another simpler procedure. |

| Costs of membership |
|
| |
The modest annual membership fees are fixed by the General Assembly. As of 2006, they are €80.- for Active Members and €250.- for Promoting Members. Senior members pay €40.-.
